Chaco Canyon

We found out earlier in the summer that Elena really enjoys hiking. She likes the challenge of the dirt trail and loves to say "I'm the leader, go this way" and "I best hiker"
So... we took her to Chaco Canyon, which was a major center of Puebloan culture between AD 850 and 1250. The Chacoan sites are part of the homeland of Pueblo Indian peoples of New Mexico, the Hopi Indians of Arizona, and the Navajo Indians of the Southwest.
A very sunny day was wearing her out and it looked like her smile was melting :-(
Here she is looking from the inside of one of the ruins. She loved the fact that the window was just her size...or maybe just that it was shady in there.
The end of our beautiful day. Elena was tired enough to ride on daddy's back!
